The only intermittent error I ever get is that I can't get data from the hard drive fast enough (and it is internal SATA, but this ONLY ever happens in my first session right after startup). I just upgraded to Protools 10 on an i7 3820 PC with 32 GB ram. I will never recommend PT to anyone because I hate failing at being to make it work, when I have another program that does everything PT will do, which I can use faster with less headaches. If you're going PC (must more cost effective, if you know what you're doing) get Cubase or Studio One or Audacity or something other than PT. If you're going Mac, don't bother with ProTools unless you have Avid hardware that absolutely requires PT. Last time I tried to use PT, I could not get my interface to be recognized, but then it was recognized, but could only input from Ch.1. I ****ing hate trying to do things in PT that take an hour of troubleshooting where the solution in Logic is ready immediately. I use Logic 99.9% of the time, because I prefer its workflow & MIDI and plugins and accessibility and lack of iLok and the fact that I can switch between interfaces without shutting down Logic, and the fact that if I hot-plug my interface, Logic will ask me "Use new interface?", and can find free AU plugs but not many RTAS and all my plugs are recognized in Logic but not in PT and frankly, after using Logic and understanding how it works, I will never go back to PT unless I need it for collaborations. However, I do not know how to set it up correctly. ProTools, when set up correctly, can be a good DAW. Interface is currently Mackie Onyx Blackbird.
